CRE Management Team
The CRE principals and management team leverages the knowledge and expertise gained through individual careers that collectively represent over 80 years of successful real estate experience. CRE's principals have been involved in the acquisition, disposition or brokerage of over $4 Billion in multi-family properties. It is this long-term perspective, expertise and energy that CRE brings to each acquisition and each CRE investor.
Michael Sexton, Managing Director
Mr. Sexton joined Capital Real Estate, LLC as Managing Director in August of 2007. Within this capacity, Mr. Sexton is responsible for the day to day operations of CRE to include community acquisitions and due diligence, asset management of the owned portfolio, investor relations, and the corporate responsibilities associated with the management of CRE.
Mr. Sexton's professional experience effectively covers the broad range of issues relating to real estate portfolio acquisitions and management, as well as the development and structuring of real estate organizations. Prior to joining CRE, Mr. Sexton held the position of Manager within Archstone-Smith's Due Diligence department. In this role he conducted the due diligence and closing on approximately $1.35 Billion in multifamily real estate acquisitions, equating to the addition of over 5,900 apartment units to the Archstone portfolio. Mr. Sexton's responsibilities within Archstone-Smith also included the evaluation and implementation of department-level processes related to ownership and management transition and the asset management of joint venture acquisitions. Archstone-Smith, recently acquired by Tishman Speyer, is a Denver-based real estate investment trust with a $22.2 Billion market capitalization.
Mr. Sexton's experience also includes an accomplished tenure within Booz Allen Hamilton, a top-tier management consulting firm based in McLean, VA. As an Associate within the firm's real estate strategy practice, Mr. Sexton managed and executed strategic engagements for leading commercial and federal organizations focused on organizational analysis and restructuring, strategic portfolio management, information systems optimization, performance measurement, and capitalization strategies and deferred maintenance management. He has provided leadership and guidance on real estate issues both on a domestic and international level.
Prior to his time with Booz Allen, Mr. Sexton was a business development and project manager for a regional economic development firm in southeastern Virginia where he was responsible for the local management of projects for domestic and international companies involved in corporate relocation or expansion.
Mr. Sexton is a graduate of Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA where he received a B.S.B.A in Economics.
